As we approach Pentecost Sunday on May 24, we are struck by what a meaningful and energizing Easter season this has been at The Oceanside Sanctuary. Between new leaders volunteering, new Meetups launching, a Community Defense Training, a memorable Lent service, and a new monthly youth group gaining traction, there is so much to celebrate.
Over the past several months, we’ve been working to implement better systems for coordinating our community life at OSC. We’re now rolling out the final features of our centralized platform for groups, events, and volunteer coordination: Church Center.
We (Pastors Jason and Jenell) have a personal favor to ask. But first, some background. Over the past year, we have been in conversation with OSC Board and leadership about the possibility of taking a sabbatical leave in 2027. As you may know, clergy commonly take a sabbatical every 6-7 years for a season of personal spiritual reflection and renewal…
As we step into a new year at The Oceanside Sanctuary and a renewed vision and mission, you are invited to lean into community and help us cultivate a Christian spirituality “reclaiming its calling to be known for love, liberation, and the celebration of God’s image in all people.”
As we enter the New Year we are asking the question: What if the world we are hoping for – the world Jesus envisioned in his life and ministry – begins with how we live each and every day? At The Oceanside Sanctuary, we aren't just envisioning a better future, we believe in practicing it here and now.
Dear OSC family & friends, recent political events have made it painfully clear that our government can remove food assistance at a moment’s notice. A stalled budget, another government shutdown, or a single policy change can instantly leave families without the assistance they rely on.
Join us for a discussion with David Gushee, author of The Moral Teachings of Jesus, for our December Book Club Zoom: “The growing movement of post-evangelicalism highlights an opportunity to elevate and center the moral teachings of Jesus. So many of those who identify as Christian intuitively know that their old version of faith is no longer working, and they feel a theological vacuum.”
