Live Free Campaign: Police policy change
We are working to being about substantive policy change to the Oceanside Police Department by advocating for the goals of the Live Free Campaign.
In 2022, we collaborated with the Police and Fire Commission to establish the Standing Oversight Committee. This committee was created to provide civilian oversight of complaints received by the Oceanside Police and Fire departments, helping to give it structure and definition.
In 2021, we successfully persuaded the new Chief of Police to adopt an enforceable de-escalation policy.
In 2020, we successfully persuaded the City of Oceanside to open up a closed search for the next Chief of Police.
AFFORDABLE HOUSING & Homelessness Solutions
Our team has begun the research phase for determine what issues we may campaign for related to homelessness services or solutions in North San Diego County.
