Pastor Jason will take OSC folks on a field trip to San Dieguito United Methodist Church to hear progressive Christian author Brian McLaren speak about his recent book, Life After Doom: Wisdom and Courage For a World Falling Apart.
Living Undivided is a new anti-racism learning group at OSC based on the book by Chuck Mingo and Troy Jackson. Led by our anti-racism team, this group will meet for seven session (including the orientation) on Zoom over twelve weeks to learn and grow together in how to live more effectvely and authentically for racial healing and racial justice as Christians.
This annual gathering is a solemn reminder of human mortality and the need for reconciliation with God, leading us powerfully into the season of Lent.
In Life After Doom, Brian D. McLaren engages with the catastrophic failure of both our religious and political leaders to address the dominant realities of our time: ecological overshoot, economic injustice, and the increasing likelihood of civilizational collapse. McLaren defines doom as the “un-peaceful, uneasy, unwanted feeling” that “we humans have made a mess of our civilization and our planet, and not enough of us seem to care enough to change deeply enough or quickly enough to save ourselves.”
"Belonging" is our basic introduction to The Oceanside Sanctuary for those who are new. We will gather for 90 minutes to cover our distinctive beliefs, practices, and programs, and answer your questions. Lunch and childcare are included for the Sunday session.
Five major fires in Los Angeles continue to be devastating on a historic scale. As of today, it is estimated that over 11 people have been killed and 37,000 acres have been burned. As residents of North San Diego County, many OSC members have friends and family in the L.A. area who are suffering and displaced by this disaster…
Join us on January 5th at 10 AM for our first ever "Twelfth Morning" Sunday gathering to celebrate Epiphany, the final day of the “twelve days of Christmas” also known as the season of Christmastide! This special service will involve lots of fun and activities for all ages:
Our annual Food Pantry Christmas Giveaway was a blast! Thanks so much to all who bought gifts for our families and volunteered to help with the giveaway! Check out the slideshow below!
From the whole staff at the Oceanside Sanctuary, we want to thank you for making our annual year-end fund drive a success! Our goal was to raise $50,000 to support our Community Impact programs, and you helped us exceed that goal by raising $53,127!
Mission 2030 has begun! As 2025 kicks off this week, we think our 150th year is the perfect time to empower our entire congregation to dream about what The Oceanside Sanctuary can become next. We are looking forward to dreaming together with you in the coming year.
It’s time again for our annual year-end fund drive! As you know, instead of passing an offering basket every week, we have two fundraisers during the year, once in June and once in December. Last December, you helped raise $55,075 to renovate our community space in the basement.
November 21st 2024 marks our 149th birthday as a church and the beginning of our 150th year. This is an incredible milestone! Our church has existed longer than telephones, record players, or light bulbs! We would love to see you this coming Sunday November 17th for a 149th birthday celebration immediately after church in our new downstairs community room.
