Hello OSC friends and family,
Yesterday we shared spiritual practices for families during Advent and Christmas. Today I’m writing to share something with the grown-up.
One of our fellow congregants at OSC, Father Larry Hart, has generously agreed to share with us his latest book, Advent Meditations For a World on the Brink . Larry is a kind friend, a brilliant conversation partner, and longtime pastor serving as a priest in the Episcopal and then later, the Ecumenical Catholic traditions.
As you can imagine, Larry and I have taken different paths in our theological and ministerial journey — his more traditional and mine, well…less so. But even though we don’t always hold to the same doctrinal perspectives, we somehow end up in the same place: love for Christ and devotion to God’s world of grace, justice, and peace, to which Christ spoke and acted.
That’s a pretty great snapshot of what it’s like to be part of The Oceanside Sanctuary. We don’t have to agree to learn from each other how to discern God’s presence among us.
