Let’s all protect the most vulnerable at church tomorrow by wearing a mask
Hello again friends,
I’m sure you are tracking the news about the rapid increase in the Delta variant of COVID:
COVID Delta is far more virulent and transmissible than the previous variants.
While those of us who are vaccinated enjoy far greater personal protection against the effects of COVID, we appear to be just as likely to spread COVID as unvaccinated people, even when asymptomatic.
Many people who are medically compromised, and all children under the age of 12 remain unvaccinated.
This week, the State of California recommended universal mask-wearing while indoors.
It seems to me that the very least we who profess to follow Jesus can do is take simple precautions to help protect others from serious illness or death.
For that reason, starting tomorrow, we are asking everyone who attends church in-person — even those who are vaccinated — to wear a mask at all times.
This precaution will continue until the State of California lifts its recommendation for Universal mask-wearing indoors.
Take care,
Rev. Jason Coker
Lead Pastor
PS: Okay, a couple additional tidbits: First, we will have masks available at the door for anyone who forgets to bring one. Second, we will still be serving coffee, but we ask that you keep your mask on and simply pull your mask down briefly when taking a drink.
