Dear OSC family,
We hope you have enjoyed a joyful Christmas and Happy New Year season. You have all made this a banner holiday season at OSC. Here are just a few highlights:
Our pantry ministry hosted Thanksgiving for 25 food-insecure seniors
We also provided Christmas gifts for every child under 18 in the pantry program
OSC members sang Christmas carols at a local memory care
Over 185 people turned out for one of our biggest Christmas Eve services ever
Pastor Claire hosted our first Jr. High Christmas Gift Exchange and breakfast
We love the generous and kind-hearted community that continues to form at OSC! Check out the pictures below.
In other news, we are thrilled to report that with your help, we exceeded our year-end fund drive goal and raised $55,074.96! Huge thanks to all who gave toward this effort! We continue to be blown away by your generosity in supporting the mission of OSC. In the coming weeks the OSC Board and Staff will be finalizing plans for this project. We expect to do the bulk of the work in February and March. As always, we will be in need of volunteers to help. If you would like to volunteer time to help with demolition, carpentry, and painting, click here to sign up!
We also want to invite you to join us for three special upcoming events:
Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration on Sunday, Jan 21st at 4 PM at the Disciples Center in Fullerton: Every year our denomination’s Regional Ministry host a Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration. This year, members of our Anti-Racism Team will caravan to Fullerton to join this celebration and you are invited to come with us! Click here to RSVP.
Night of Prayer for Christian Unity, Thursday, Jan 25th at 6:30 PM at Saint Andrews Episcopal Church, Encinitas: For the third consecutive year, several churches in North County will be coming together for one night to commemorate the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, a joint global effort of the Vatican and the World Council of Churches. As pastors, we feel it is deeply important to represent progressive Christianity at ecumenical gatherings, and for this reason we are directly involved in organizing this event. We would love for you to join us there and represent OSC! Click here to RSVP.
Annual Women’s Retreat, Saturday, Feb 17th, 9 AM to 4 PM at OSC: For the second year in a row, Pastor Jenell will be hosting and facilitating a day-long women’s retreat at OSC designed to help you creatively reconnect with a sense of God’s presence in your life. As a certified Spiritual Director, Jenell leads participants through a variety of creative, restful, and relational contemplative practices. This year, the retreat will focus on finding joy in the heart of faith and everyday life. The cost is $40 but scholarships are available. Lunch will be provided. Space is limited so click here to save your spot!
We are looking forward to walking through 2024 with you together in our growing community of faith!
Blessings,
Jason & Jenell Coker
Co-Lead Ministers
