Recently the OSC Board of Elders met and unanimously agreed to extend our current Mission Commitment through December 2025. For those who may not know, the Mission Commitment is our guiding set of values and priorities at OSC. You can click here to see our current version. Overall we received a dozen applicants for this position, including several high quality candidates. As of 4 PM PST today, Friday August 18th, hurricane Hilary seems to have adjusted course for a direct hit on the San Diego area. Even though it will likely be downgraded to a tropical storm by Sunday, it is still expected to bring 40-70 mph winds, severe flooding, and likely power outages Sunday and Monday.

Many of us at OSC have pulled apart or deconstructed our faith constructs after learning more about biblical history, social justice, and inclusive spaces. While some who deconstruct walk away from faith altogether, others find deeper expressions of love, peace, and meaning in a faith reconstructed around the life and teachings of Jesus. Starting Sunday, July 16th, Co-Lead Ministers Jenell and Jason will begin a new praxis series called “Reconstructing Faith: Rediscovering Spiritual Practices After Deconstruction.”
